Furniture Assembly

Efficient assembly of commercial office furniture and residential furniture.

An office order and a bedroom order are different jobs

Viking Handyman assembles commercial office furniture and residential furniture, and the two start from different places. A bedroom dresser is one piece in one room. An office order might be a run of identical desks, a row of file cabinets and a conference table, delivered together and needed ready by a specific morning. Sorting the boxes by piece and by room before the first screw means nothing gets built twice or carried across the building.

Residential pieces bring their own wrinkles: stairs and tight hallways, a bed that has to be built in the room it will sleep in, instructions that assume a second pair of hands. For homes in Murfreesboro and Smyrna, reading the manual start to finish and laying the hardware out by step is what keeps a flat-pack bookcase from ending with a spare bag of screws and a crooked back panel. Offices add the layout question of which desk goes where, which is worth deciding before the boxes open.

Squared, tightened and anchored

Flat-pack furniture holds its shape through the frame, not the fasteners alone, so the order matters. Hardware goes in loose first, the frame is squared by measuring corner to corner, and only then do the cam locks and screws get fully tightened. A back panel nailed onto a frame that is out of square locks the lean in permanently, and a drawer that rubs on one side usually started right there.

Tall pieces get anchored to the wall. Bookcases, dressers and file cabinets can tip, particularly with drawers pulled open or a child climbing, and the anti-tip strap or bracket that comes in the box is meant to be used, fixed into a stud or a proper anchor. In an office the same applies to tall file cabinets and shelving units, which are loaded heavily and still need to be secured. Doors get aligned, drawer slides get checked, and shelf pins get set at the height you want.

Finished means the room is usable

An assembly job is not finished when the last screw goes in; it is finished when the room is usable. The furniture sits where you picked, the doors swing clear, the hardware bags are accounted for, and nothing is left standing between you and the room. A piece that arrives scratched or short a part is better caught on day one than after the box is gone.

That matters most in an office, where half-built desks block people on Monday morning, but it counts in a Smyrna spare room too. Ask about packaging when you call, so it is settled up front. Tell Chris Sias what is on order, how many pieces and which rooms, and where the assembly instructions are.
